Autumn - "Lakey"

🍁 In honor of Fall, I’m sharing autumn artworks from my 40-year career.

This is a commissioned portrait of Lakey. Of course it made sense to show her standing in a lake. Her favorite thing, which is how she got her name.

Colored pencil and watercolor painting of a cream-colored mixed-breed dog standing in a river with autumn leaves.

"Lakey" was commissioned by Jordan G. in 1993. I used Jordan's reference photo of Lakey, my own reference photos of water and leaves, and my imagination. The reflection of Lakey was created by me.

🎨  Prismacolor pencil on “Cream” Canson Mi-Teintes paper,

with watercolor underpainting for the background with colored pencil over it.

20 x 26 inches.
