June Cawood contacted me to do a head study of her beloved Lab, Pilgrim, a triple Master Hunter. She sent me a number of photos. There was one of June and her husband Stephen with Pilgrim. When I saw it I said, "THAT'S the portrait". Look at the close-up detail (click the magnifying glass) to see why.

June and Stephen were high-school sweethearts, they have been married for many years. They own a kennel and breed hunting Labs. June trained Pilgrim herself to the high honor of triple Master Hunter. June and Stephen are "just regular country people". What I saw in this portrait was who they really are and what they mean to eachother....and what Pilgrim meant to both of them.

Our anniversary is Dec 3rd...and I'm going to give it to my Husband then...instead of Christmas...I cannot begin to tell you how happy I believe he will be!!
